No, not that kind of drag-race.
FOX is adapting Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet for a new drama focusing on the world of high-octane drag racing. The series comes from Eureka co-creator Jaime Paglia and former Fox comedy executive Marcus Wiley, now a producer himself. Titled Pomona Kings, the drama tells the story of two rival families, one white and one Latino, vying "for power and prestige in the world of custom car shops and drag racing in Southern California." The show will be told through the eyes of two star-crossed lovers, a "prodigal song and drag-racing daughter" who must "navigate a world of rival gangs, car theft rings, gambling and corruption."
The concept is based on an idea by Paglia and his producing partner James Middleton (Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles), with Paglia, Middleton and Wiley executive producing.
