'Flight of the Conchords' star Jemaine Clement Denies Reunion Rumors

Rumors have circulated this week that HBO would revive the musical comedy series Flight of the Conchords, prompting jubilation among fans of the cult show. However, the celebration was a bit premature.

Flight of the Conchords star Jemaine Clement broke his silence on the rumors .

However, this doesn't mean we've necessarily seen the last of Flight of the Conchords, as Clement explained that he frequently talks with former band member Bret McKenzie about other Flight-related projects.

"We talk about a movie every so often," he said. "Sometimes it feels like we lost a lot of impetus over the last couple of years. But Bret, [lead director] James [Bobin] and me, we all want to do a musical. It would be good to do something all together…I miss playing Flight of the Conchords gigs."

For the uninitiated, Flight of the Conchords followed fictionalized versions of Clement and McKenzie as they attempted to find work and paying music gigs in New York City. Along the way, they would encounter some...well, colorful personalities. And play even more colorful music.

Since the series ended in 2009, the men behind its success have gone on to be every bit as successful without the show: Clement has had prominent roles in everything from Rio to Men in Black 3, and he's currently in the process of promoting his new horror-comedy What We Do in the Shadows. Meanwhile, McKenzie has earned acclaim writing music for films. In particular, he won an Academy Award for Best Original song for "Man or Muppet", from 2011's The Muppets. He also composed music for its sequel, Muppets Most Wanted, released earlier this year.

So while Flight of the Conchords will not be returning to HBO, we haven't exactly heard the last from Clement and McKenzie, at least.
