FlashForward - The Garden of Forking Paths - Recap

Last week, creeper Dyson Frost visited Charlie at the carnival and now we see the details of that conversation. He seems relatively pleasant if you forget he's a creepy psychotic murderer. He talks to her a little about Dr. Seuss, then gives her a picture to give to Mark. It's a clue that will eventually end up on his board and it has the details of Demetri's kidnapping. The tension between Olivia and Mark during Charlie's questioning has gotten stronger. Probably because Olivia is full of guilt after giving in and kissing Lloyd last week. I swear his accent is hypnotizing.

One of Mark's co workers visits Olivia to ask her some questions about the homeless man that was murdered. Olivia is unable to recognize him but whether she wants to believe it or not, he is connected to her. He is the one who sent her the text about Mark drinking again. I was kind of hoping it was someone we already knew. Together, they try to find out why he would have sent Olivia the text and turn up empty at a mental hospital. A patient comes up to them claiming he's a friend of the homeless man and tells Olivia he knows about the experiments and that they've had this conversation many times before. Or at least he's seen the conversation. He doesn't seem right in the head and i'm going to guess he was a victim of these flashforward experiments presumably run by Dyson Frost.

Zoey is desperate for any information she can find to help rescuse Demetri and turns to the terrorist Alda for help. Alda claims she knows something that will help Zoey but she first wants a hearing. She doesn't care if she wins or loses, she just wants one. Hmm. Zoey compromises her job and gets it for her and they lose. Alda tells Zoey that in her vision she saw Demetri's body in Building 7 but that's all she knows. She then ends up escaping from the prison.

Dyson has Demetri tied to a chair and hooked up to a machine with a ton of sensors around Mark's gun. If Demetri even hiccups and moves an inch, the gun will go off. The FBI put Mark in a train station as bait for Dyson Frost when he gets in touch with Mark. He claims he wants to surrender because 78 percent of the time in his visions, Demetri ends up murdering him instead. He forces Mark onto a crazy scavenger hunt and Mark runs out on the FBI. As insurance of course, Dyson continues to hold Demetri's life in his hands.

After running through a desert for 4 hours with nothing but a compass, he meets Dyson near some mountains. Dyson claims the world is running out of time and Mark pulls a fast one on him. He spits some gasoline into Dyson's face and gets him at gunpoint without being poisoned. I bet that didn't taste good. They realize that Mark was followed by Alda and she shoots and kills Dyson before Mark can get anymore information out of him. Sigh. Figures. Timing is everything. Did he ever see Mark do this in any of his visions? Dyson was a desperate man who could sense time was running out.

And it is. Mark gets in Dyson's car and with the help of his gps, some clues from both Charlie, Dyson and Zoey, he is led to building number 7 where Demetri is still panicking in the chair. After investigating the gun and the sensors, Mark finds himself with his hands on his own gun pointed at Demetri just like the visions said. It's a tense few moments and i can feel myself getting increasingly stressed out everytime a commercial happens. Using the Dr. Seuss riddle that Dyson gave to Charlie, Mark is able to repoint the gun and save Demetri. YAY! Thank the Lord.

Behind Dem, they notice Dyson's crazy huge chalk board with a map of all the possible futures he's seen. However, as soon as Demetri gets up from the chair, a set of sprinklers turn on and wipe the board clean. Sigh. Another mystery to solve. And with March 15th out of the way, and the date of a possible new blackout coming, the world is given one more date to worry about. Mark remembers all the possible futures on the chalk board lead up to one date on the top. December 12th, 2016. With only two words next to it. The End. Yeesh. Scary stuff. I almost thought it was going to say 2012. Is this what Dyson meant when he said the world was running out of time? Why?
