'The Flash' Casts Robbie Amell as One Half of Firestorm
The CW's most anticipated series of the fall, The Flash, is a cousin to one of its more popular series, Arrow. But now that cousin-connection is becoming literal, as the drama pilot has cast the cousin of Arrow star Stephen Amell in a crucial supporting role.
Robbie Amell, of the recently-cancelled The Tomorrow People, has been cast as Ronnie Raymond, better known to comic book fans as one half of Firestorm, the Nuclear Man. According to DC's official website, The Flash will portray Raymond as "a maintenance worker at S.T.A.R. Labs and Dr. Caitlin Snow’s fiancé" who goes on to play "an integral part in the particle accelerator accident that transforms Barry Allen into the Flash."
This is a great casting decision and has me even more stoked for the series. But I find myself wondering how the show will handle Firestorm if/when the character enters the canon. Two people fusing into one can look really cheesy if not done properly. That said, if The Flash is anything like Arrow, they have my vote of confidence.
