The Final Movie Ever Rented From Blockbuster Was...

With the impending shutdown of Blockbuster's remaining 300 stores comes the inevitability that one movie would end up earning the honor of being the last movie ever rented from the retail franchise. And now, we know what that one movie is.

The final rental took place at 11 p.m. on Nov. 9 in Hawaii, and the movie itself has an eerily appropriate title: This Is the End.

The company celebrated by posting a photo of the landmark moment on Twitter.

Seth Rogen, one of the stars of the film, also tweeted about the milestone:

The last movie ever rented from a blockbuster was this is the end. In high school I would go hang out at blockbuster every day.

Roughly 50 licensed Blockbuster stores will remain open after Dish closes its company-run stores by January 2014, although this will be the final official rental, as the company will begin liquidating its current assets this week.

I suppose this all begs the question: exactly how is this guy supposed to return the movie?
