Fifth Harmony - Better Together - EP Review

Last year's The X Factor USA finalists Fifth Harmony are official on the music scene. Bursting out as the franchise's first commercial act in the US, how did their first EP fare?

Fifth Harmony - Better Together - EP Review

The opening track, "Don't Wanna Dance Alone" is definitely a dance-floor filler. Lauren's strong vocals accompanied by the diva vibe by Normani set the precedent for the song before listeners can begin to jig along to the song's disco beats. "Miss Movin' On", the lead single, is classic pop. The song honestly hit ever mark that it could have targeted and it was executed very well. Powerful, belted vocals are at the forefront.

"Better Together" is perfection in the fact that it is exactly the type of music Fifth Harmony was constructed to make - urban pop. All of their voices sound the best on things on, there are few flaws. I felt like the chorus could have been better, it does it grinding after a while. But the verses and they way they delivered the song just overpowers any type of mishap. This song gets the "They did that recognition." "Who Are You" is the EP's resident ballad. In typical 5H fashion, their vocals are on spot and definitely make this ballad not boring - at least at the beginning. It sort of loses momentum half way, but does pick back up when they start sanging near the end.

We all fell in love with "Me & My Girls" earlier this year when the were "booty-popping." The song is just as great and instant as it was then. The epic blend of power pop and hip-hop still hits and I can just envision #NormaniDaGawdess working it out during the breakdowns.

The most experimental is "Leave My Heart Out Of This" (except for the predictable whistles at the beginning). The production and harmonies are at the best here which is odd because of all the great production in the others but it is evident in a different way on this track. A bit too much "rock-y" for my preference, but it is a great track.

Overall, 5H delivered an awesome album. But of course, that's what we all expected! I just really hope they continue to record and perform in this fashion for their full length studio debut. I want them to be so successful and they are delivering from the music end - so we have to support them!
