'Fault In Our Stars' Sound Editor Paul Apted Dies at 47
Hollywood has lost one of its more prolific technicians, as sound editor Paul Apted has died at age 47 from colon cancer.
The son of director Michael Apted (Coal Miner's Daughter, The World Is Not Enough), Paul Apted hailed from Manchester, England. Among recent credits such as this summer's hit The Fault in Our Stars, action films such as A Good Day to Die Hard and The Wolverine, and Oscar nominees such as Prisoners and The Book Thief, Apted worked alongside his father. In addition to their collaboration on Nell, the Apteds also worked together on Extreme Measures and The Chronicles of Narnia: Voyage of the Dawn Treader.
Apted is survived by his wife Gemma; children Thomas and Rose; mother Jo; and siblings Jim, John and Lily. A memorial has been scheduled for 12:30 PM on July 13 at Mount Sinai Hollywood Hills, with a funeral service to follow at a later date in the U.K.
Our condolences go out to Apted's family and friends during this trying time. The film community has lost a truly talented individual far too soon.
