Fantasia Barrino will not sing on Mahalia biopic

Fantasia won't be singing songs on the Mahalia film she is starring in. Instead she will lipsync the original songs of Mahalia instead.

A bit of irony here. As far as I know, Fantasia is known for great singing, not acting. Unless the producers think she is a Marion Cotillard in the making.

From NOLA.com:

Producer Dave LaCour Simien, whose Los Angeles-based Double Dutch Productions is behind "Mahalia!," said the production has acquired the rights to 18 of Jackson's songs for the film -- all of which have been remastered -- and that Barrino will be lip-synching to those original recordings.
