Fans Petition for Matt Bomer to Play Christian Grey in '50 Shades'

Anyone remotely interested in the upcoming film adaptation of the hit novel 50 Shades of Grey would certainly have experienced this week's outcry from disappointed super fans. After Charlie Hunnam and Dakota Johnson were cast as lead characters Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele, a group of dedicated readers took to the internet to have their voices heard. They want their Matt Bomer, people. Alexis Bledel, too, it seems, but much of the buzz has centered solely on Bomer. The petition now has nearly 60,000 signatures! Is anybody else ready to sign?

Here is the Change.org petition's mission statement:

Matt Bomer is the PERFECT DESCRIPTION OF CHRISTIAN GREY AND ALEXIS BLEDEL IS THE PERFECT ACTRESS TO REPRESENT ANASTASIA STEELE and if THEY ARE NOT, NOBODY WILL BE And I read the whole trilogy and I can assure that Matt is the perfect actor for this movie and Alexis too. So please PLEASE, all of the GREYsessed and Bomerettes in the world NEED those actors. They always will be for us the Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele. WE CAN DO ANYTHING GUYS, ANYTHING.

Matt Bomer has responded, according to CNN, but it seems he shares a differing opinion. Showing his support for the previous casting decisions, Bomer stated in response to the petition, "I'm so grateful for the fans and touched… I'm looking forward to seeing the movie with Charlie and Dakota."
