TNT has announced the renewal of one of its most popular original series.

The Steven Spielberg-produced sci-fi drama Falling Skies will return next year for a fourth season, TVLine reports.

The decision was a bit of a no-brainer for TNT, as the series ranks as basic cable's no. 1 scripted series among the 18-49 and 25-54 demographics. When taking Live+7 DVR playback into account, the show has averaged roughly 5.8 million weekly viewers for this season.

The 10-episode fourth season will premiere in summer 2014.
