Eva Longoria to Guest Star on 'Brooklyn Nine-Nine'

Eva Longoria is going from the sassy drama of Lifetime's Devious Maids to the vibrant comedy of FOX's Brooklyn Nine-Nine.

She will play the role of Sophia, "a defense attorney who battles Jake (Andy Samberg) in court, catching his eye in the process."

Longoria hasn't always been known for her comedic chops, but she's not entirely new to the craft, although Over Her Dead Body admittedly wasn't comedic dynamite. But hey, she is responsible for delivering one of my favorite SNL lines in ages during her hosting stint in 2005 (nearly cracking up when describing indigestion as "Taking the Browns to the Super Bowl"), so...yeah, silver linings!

Speaking of Saturday Night Live, Longoria joins a slate of guest stars for Season 2 that includes SNL alum Jenny Slate, who will appear this season alongside Kyra Sedgwick and Terrell Owens, both of whom have sizable comedic ability of their own (I'm not kidding about Owens. Dude has great comedic timing from his recurring stint on NBC's one-season bomb Go On).

Brooklyn Nine-Nine returns for Season 2 on Sept. 28 at 8:30 PM ET on Fox.
