Esmée Denters - YouTube Spotlight - 08/15/2010
Esmée Denters is arguably one of the top musical success stories on YouTube. At 17, she began posting videos of herself on YouTube covering her favorite songs by Alicia Keys, Beyonce, Natasha Bedingfield and others. She recorded all of these videos from her bedroom in the suburbs of Oosterbeek in The Netherlands. With encouragement from her friends, Esmée began posting several clips weekly, including songs she had authored. Within nine months, she had 21 million views and became the #1 Most Subscribed Musician in the history of YouTube.
Due to her popularity, she was sought out by Justin Timberlake and she was signed to his label. Esmée has been working with famous songwriters and producers who have worked with Usher, Ciara, Rihanna, Ne-Yo, Leona Lewis, Natashing Bedingfield, Beyonce and more.
In 2007, she was the opening act for Justin Timberlake's European leg of his FutureSex/LoveShow Tour. Esmée was also featured on The Oprah Winfrey Show as part of a episode highlighting talent from YouTube.
She recently released a new single called Love Dealer, which is her third single in the UK and debut single in the US from her album, Outta Here.
I love Esmée's voice. I think she is definitely has the talent, but I question the song choices. I think some of the covers she has done are amazing.
