Ernie Hudson Joins 'Once Upon A Time' as Poseidon

We've only just met Ursula in the dramatic winter finale of ABC's awesome primetime fairy tale Once Upon A Time. But now, we're already setting up to meet her pops.

Ernie Hudson has been cast as Poseidon, god of the sea and father of Ursula (Merrin Dungey). Hudson will appear in Episode 15 of season four, an episode that will also feature the return of JoAnna Garcia Swisher has Ariel.

For what it's worth, I think Hudson will do a great job as Poseidon, since he has a wonderful screen presence. Certainly enough to portray the authority of someone the stature of the god of the sea. His casting marks the second major bit of casting news in as many days, as Eion Bailey is already scheduled to return as Pinocchio in Episode 14 of Season 4B, presumably in flashbacks (since Pinocchio is a little kid in this world, thanks to the Blue Fairy). In short, it should be a lively second half of the season for Once Upon A Time.

But what do you think of the casting? Sound off in the comments, and get to speculating on the nature of his role. Hell, we've got a while to theorize, since Once Upon A Time won't be back until March 1, 2015.
