Eric Church Announces New Album 'The Outsiders', due February 11

Eric Church will release his fourth studio album The Outsiders on February 11, it has been announced.

This follows the release of the controversial hard rock title track as the lead single, and its jump straight to #1 on Billboard's Country Digital Songs, selling 81,000 copies in its first week. Eric will perform the new single on CMA Awards this Wednesday (November 6), and says “Could be crowd-surfing, could be mosh pits. They could be throwing cans at me.”

“We’ve had the ability after every record to feel more emboldened by what we did on the last record," Eric said. “And I think with this one, with the success of ‘Chief,’ we were a little bulletproof.” He continues, “They’re bold. I’m interested to see what people think about them. I always say the songs are mine till the moment we release them, then they’re the fans’ (songs). I’m very anxious. I have a lot of anxiety to see what people think about what we’ve done.”

Songs on the new record include a dark trilogy with a dramatic recitation of the Shel Silverstein poem “The Devil and Billy Markham.” 'Roller Coaster Ride' actually feels just like one, while album-closer 'The Joint' might take influence from Tom Waits and J.J. Cale. This is juxtaposed against 3 love songs in the middle of the album, and 'Cold One' a foot-tapper with a hilarious twist, alongside others.

These are just a few of the 121 songs Eric and his band wrote for this new album, so I think we can be rest assured that the 11 or 12 that made it will be awesome.

Roll on February 11!
