Equestrian - Individual Jumping - London 2012 Olympics - Medal Results
The top riders and horses in show jumping competed today in the Individual Jumping Equestrian event at the London 2012 Olympics. It was a tough competition, with perfection being required to win the gold medal.
Here are your medal results:
In the show jumping event penalties are assessed to riders for any rails knocked down or time in excess of 80 seconds on the course. Steve Guerdat aboard Nino Des Buissonnets would take the gold medal for Switzerland with no rails knocked down and no time penalties.
The silver and bronze medals would be decided in a jump off between Gero Schroder of the Netherlands and Cian O'Connor of Ireland, who had both incurred one penalty point. Schroder put the pressure on O'Conner by riding clear in the jump off. O'Connor would have to avoid knocking down any rails and finish in a faster time than Schroder in order to claim the silver. O'Connor had a clear run going and looked to be making better time than Schroder, but he knocked down a rail on the very last fence, ending his bid for silver. The bronze medal he won would be the first medal ever in show jumping for Ireland.
Results:
Gold: Steve Guerdat & Nino Des Buissonnets - Switzerland
Silver: Gero Schroder & London - Netherlands
Bronze: Cian O'Connor & Blue Loyd 12 - Ireland
Congratulations to all the medalists!
