Emily Seebohm Breaks Olympic Record - Women's 100m Backstroke - London 2012 Olympics - Results

It's only the first preliminary heat of the day and already records are being broken.  Emily Seebohm of Australia set a new Olympic Record with a time of 58.23 seconds.

This accomplishment is particularly significant, since World and Olympic records will be much harder to come by in the pool this year, due to the change that has the competitors using a slower suit than was employed by most at the games in Bejing.

U.S. phenom Missy Franklin qualified second and will swim in the semi-finals this afternoon.
