Emilia Clarke Cast as Sarah Connor in 'Terminator' Reboot
Daenerys Targaryen is leaving her dragons behind and trading them in for a terminator.
Game of Thrones star Emilia Clarke has been cast as Sarah Connor in the upcoming reboot of the Terminator franchise. The Emmy-nominated actress reportedly won the role after a closely scrutinized casting process that came down to Clarke and Brie Larson.
Clarke joins a cast that already includes Arnold Schwarzenegger, who will return to the title role, which made him a household name in 1984. Also in negotiations for the film is Zero Dark Thirty star Jason Clarke (no relation), who is in talks to play John Connor, the son of Sarah Connor and the eventual leader of the human resistance against the murderous sentient machines. The reboot is expected to change some of the original story, as the film will reportedly feature a trip into the future, which was in no way a part of the 1984 original (aside from a brief flashforward to the war with the machines).
Of course, what's funny about all this is that Clarke's Game of Thrones co-star Lena Headey (who plays Cersei Lannister on the fantasy drama) once played the role of Sarah Connor, on the FOX drama Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles. Maybe Headey could give Clarke some tips?
The Terminator reboot is scheduled for release in 2015.
