Dwayne Johnson to Play Black Adam in 'Shazam'
After hinting at a possible DC Comics movie role for what feels like the better part of forever, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson has finally confirmed his casting in New Line Cinema’s upcoming Shazam movie.
Johnson will play the role of Black Adam, a supervillain who's more of an anti-hero trying to clear his name than a straight-up bad guy.
The Rock confirmed the casting via Twitter, as Hollywood stars have a tendency of doing in the age of social media:
"Kneel at his feet or get crushed by his boot." My honor to become.. #BlackAdam #TheAntiHero #DCComics pic.twitter.com/Qk55eNf3R7

Hiram Garcia (Hercules) is producing from a script by Darren Lemke (Jack the Giant Slayer). A release date or production start date have yet to be announced.
I love The Rock, so this is fantastic news, as he's basically a perfect fit for Black Adam. Johnson's charisma is off the charts, to say nothing of his look. This should be great, just from this casting alone.
