Dominican Cab Driver
When I was living in Southern California, I took the bus to school and work. It was fascinating to see many female bus drivers, and I particulalry liked one large woman who made me feel safe that she was at the helm (insert all your freudian references here for all I care). New York is a little different as I rarely see a woman driving any MTA vehicle. I guess its just not a popular profession with the ladies -- though security I can vouch for, in particular the Gay Center in Chelsea. Our lesbian security guards can beat anyone up in a minute. At any rate, I took a cab this morning and surprise surprise, there is a lady cab driver in Manhattan. She's been driving for 8 months, and driving a cab for 4. She didn't want her face shown, but here she is:

My new favorite stores are: the Vitamin Shoppe and the Container Store.
Makati is the financial district of the Philippines. When I saw a "Makati Basket" at the Container Store, I thought it was something made in Makati. Apparently, "makati" is the bark of the Abaca tree. Really? When did this happen? Who's making these things up...
