Dolce & Gabbana Sentence to 18 Months in Jail
Fashion designers Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana (the very obvious founders of of Dolce & Gabbana) have been sentenced to an 18-month suspended sentence in jail for tax fraud.
The duo was accused of not paying tax on an income of $277 million, creating fake companies in order to dodge some tax rates.
Each man was sentenced to 20 months back in June but the appeals decision wasn't much better, with the judge only taking two months off each sentence.
Perhaps it would have been better just to have taken the original decision in the first place.
The men were also ordered to pay around $957,029 (690,000 euros) in fines.
Four other defendants -- three D&G managers, including Dolce's brother, and a tax consultant -- were also given suspended sentences from 14 to 18 months.
A lawyer for the men said they will appeal again, as permitted by Italian law.
