With a little over a week to go until the Doctor Who 50th Anniversary Special, "The Day of the Doctor," BBC has unveiled the all-new prequel mini-episode, aptly titled "The Night of the Doctor".

The mini-episode features the return of Paul McGann as the Eighth Doctor, last seen on-screen in the 1996 Doctor Who TV movie, which still managed to be fairly decent despite an American-made Doctor Who being pretty much the worst idea since Pepsi Clear. But be forewarned, for those looking to go into the 50th Anniversary Special completely blind, this will spoil the identity (and name) of the mysterious character played by John Hurt. However, the prequel provides some helpful context for what's to come. You can watch the full video below:

The Doctor Who 50th Anniversary Special, "The Day of the Doctor," premieres on November 23.
