How did Doctor Who get its start? The BBC original TV movie An Adventure in Space and Time looks to answer that question for eager viewers.

The film stars Game of Thrones actor David Bradley as William Hartnell, the thespian cast to play the First Doctor, and Call the Midwife's Jessica Raine as legendary Who producer Verity Lambert. The film itself follows the genesis of the series in the early 1960s, as BBC decides to take a gamble on a sci-fi adventure series centered on a character who's "C.S. Lewis, H.G. Wells and Father Christmas" rolled into one. You can watch the full trailer below:

An Adventure in Space and Time premieres November 21, 2013 at 9:00 PM on BBC Two in the UK. The film will then have its American premiere on BBC America the following night, Friday, November 22, at 9:00 PM. This is all in anticipation of the Doctor Who 50th Anniversary Special, "The Day of the Doctor," which has its world premiere/global simulcast on Saturday, November 23, at 2:50 PM ET in the U.S., 7:50 PM in the U.K.
