It looks like Disney's animated mega-hit Frozen will be headed to Broadway in the near future!
The news was revealed by Walt Disney CEO and Chairman Bob Iger, who told Fortune that there are plans to turn the franchise into a Broadway musical.
As he said of the project, "We're not demanding speed. We're demanding excellence."
"I was very lucky that I came into an environment where the number one creative process is the story," Iger admitted. "It was like a startup because of this creative freedom and this energy."
Thus far, Frozen has grossed $669 million at the box office and it hasn't even opened in China or Japan yet. It's also the highest all-time Disney animation debut and is set to outsell their biggest box office hit The Lion King (which has its own successful Broadway play).
Not only that, but the soundtrack beat out Beyonce to become the number one album on iTunes, Amazon and the Billboard 200.
It has a Golden Globe win for Best Animated Feature under its belt. And as if that wasn't enough, there's rumbling of theme park potential.
Bring it on, Disney. Bring it on.
