Did American Idol Sabotage Jacob Lusk?

A bit of comedy of errors last night during Jacob Lusk's performance on American Idol.

Like many viewers, I thought that Jacob stopped in the beginning of his song because he was overcome with emotion - specially after seeing him cry in the practice clip with Jimmy Iovine. It even carried on in the judging with J.Lo saying he was emotional at the beginning of the song.

When Ryan asked why he was emotional, Jacob said it wasn't his emotions -- there were drumming noises in his earpiece! Hahaha.

OK - so Jacob pretty much said he wasn't overcome with emotion and was just confused by his ear monitor. It's confusion people, not emotion. Nice save from J.Lo to "clarify" that he was "emotional" in other parts of the song, LOL. (She's good guys -- she definitely knows what is happening on the show).

So now the question remains: Did Idol sabotage Jacob Lusk to throw him off? Does Idol owe him an apology?
