Diana Vickers - International Spotlight

Diana Vickers from Blackburn England, competed in the 2008 edition of The X Factor. 17 at the time, Diana Vickers shocked many audiences with her distinctive singing voice and style. Always bearing the stage barefoot, Diana gathered attention of the world with her zainy hand gestures and her unique approach to tacking on many Common talent show songs.

From the first moment I saw Diana Vickers on the stage looking like an euphoral deer caught in the headlights, I was in love. I definitely would not consider her a power singer, but what she has that ability to take a song, get the most of it, while making it uniquely her own. This is helped by her piercing tone that is able to invade and produce chills through an individual. While, once again, she may not be for everyone, she is definitely my favorite thing to come out of X Factor UK thus far. I like to think of her as Megan Joy 'done right'. Diana placed 4th overall. Robbed. But it is okay. Diana Vickers was going to originally to sign with Simon Cowell's record label Syco, but instead opted to sign with RCA Records. Her album and single both placed #1 on UK singles and albums chart, so pretty successful and I'd say so myself. I also quite remember the week when she was too sick to perform and got a free pass to the next round. Always felt kinda bad for that. But Viva la Vickers, and hopefully she'll eventually make a US infestation!
