Detroit Film Critics Society Awards 2013 - Full Winners List
The regional film critics awards are sounding in with their picks for 2013, and Detroit has split the awards between big studio awards season releases and lower-budget auteur works. The Detroit Film Critics Society, founded in Spring 2007, consists of twenty Michigan film critics who "write or broadcast in the Detroit area as well as other major cities within a 150-mile radius of the city including Ann Arbor, Grand Rapids, Kalamazoo, Lansing, and Flint, Michigan."
Each critic submitted their top five choices in each category, with each entry given a point value based on its ranking, with the top five in each category earning a spot on the final ballot. The final ballots are then given to each critic to rank in order, with the results tabulated once again to decide the winners.

This year, the big winners were Spike Jonze's Her (which won three awards: Best Film, Best Supporting Actress, and Best Screenplay); Short Term 12 (two awards: Best Actress and Breakthrough) and Dallas Buyers Club (two awards: Best Actor and Best Supporting Actor). However, some of the season's big frontrunners also earned recognition, as Alfonso Cuaron took Best Director for Gravity, American Hustle won Best Ensemble, and Stories We Tell took the Documentary feature award. An eclectic mix, to be sure, and portentous of a dynamic Oscar race ahead.
