Desperate Housewives - Never Judge a Lady by Her Lover - Recap

(Here's Desi's recap of tonight's episode of Desperate Housewives "Never Judge a Lady by Her Lover" ... anyone watching this?)
Desperate Housewives. It's been about two or three seasons since I was a religious watcher, and even then it was more of a Sunday evening background as I scrambled to finish homework I'd had all weekend to do. Diving back into it now is like watching a spin-off of an old favorite show since the plot lines are so wildly different.
Except that tonight they aren't! Because it's the return of Jesse Metcalfe's John. He's moved on from his gardening days and now owns a successful restaurant.
We visit Susan, who is confronting a neighbor about someone being held for her daughter's attempted murder. WTF have I missed in the last couple years? The show unfolds and I kind of piece things together -- there's a new family on the block, they may be in the Witness Protection Program or something similar, the son is unsavory, and probably got Julie pregnant. No wonder Susan is pissed.
While Mike and Susan discuss whether she should be running her mouth, Tom and Lynette are telling their kids that she is pregnant with twins. My reaction consisted of a mix between "don't they already have 80 kids or so?" and "holy cow the triplets grew up and got hot."
Next up is more John action. He comes in to talk to Carlos about his nephew working at John's restaurant. I'm confused about when Carlos got his vision back because last I knew, he was blind. I love the tension between these two as they constantly refer to their "history" before someone finally spits out that John had slept with Carlos' wife.
Bree's storyline seems a little more familiar. She's cheating on Orson in what look like cheap hotel rooms and then the couple run into her lover and his date at a fancy event. Of course, the four all sit together and before the evening ends, Bree spills oil on the dance floor so that Orson (dancing with Carl's date) take a tumble. Later, Orson confronts Bree and essentially says he appreciates that she was jealous over him being with another woman. She protests, and I think he's a creeper. He's kind of got a clown face.
Meanwhile, Lynette is in her office when Carlos comes in to offer her a promotion to Vice President. She accepts after offers of a closer parking spot and an expense account and a 50% salary increase... and then finds out that the woman currently in the job is being removed because she's pregnant. Problem: Lynette is also pregnant. She agrees anyway and later goes to a dinner with a potential client, bringing Tom. The client brings his own wine, and though Lynette says she doesn't want to drink under the premise of having a clear head for business, Carlos urges her to fill her cup. Tom is left to slam her drinks and by the end of the dinner gets very drunk, ultimately talking about and to Gabi's breasts. I can't really blame him, they did look fierce in that dress.
Susan sees Danny, the kid she thinks attempted to murder her daughter, working under a friend's car. She takes it upon herself to lower the jack and try to trap him before the mother gets involved. Mike later tells her that the police have security tape evidence that clears Danny of the crime. As the show closes, we see the Bolen house vandalized, yard littered with garbage. Susan knows it's her fault, having discussed the act with neighbors earlier, and walks over with garbage bags in hand to help pick up the mess.
I don't like the show as much as I did when I last watched it, but I think that's a matter of getting back into it. I do appreciate that the voiceovers seem to be at the same quality (which is more than I can say of my other 2005 favorite, Grey's Anatomy.) I'm definitely excited for next week's episode and the drama in the Solis household with John's return.
