Deborah Ann Woll Joins Netflix's 'Daredevil'

True Blood is still a month away from its series finale, but Deborah Ann Woll already has her next gig lined up.

Woll has been cast as Karen Page in Marvel and Netflix's Daredevil. Page is the love interest of the blind lawyer/crime-fighting superhero Matt Murdock (played by Boardwalk Empire alum Charlie Cox).

The character, Daredevil's longest-running romantic interest, was created by Stan Lee and first appeared in Daredevil's inaugural issue in April 1964. As secretary at the law firm of Nelson & Murdock, where Daredevil works by day, she inevitably learns about his secret life as a superhero. Grey's Anatomy star Ellen Pompeo notably played the role in the 2003 film adaptation starring Ben Affleck. However, in that film, Page is a fairly minor character.

Woll joins a cast that includes Elden Henson as Franklin "Foggy" Nelson, Rosario Dawson in a mysterious, unspecified role, and Vincent D'Onofrio as Wilson Fisk (a.k.a. "The Kingpin").

Netflix and Marvel declined to comment on the casting, but this is a pretty fantastic casting choice if true. Woll has a wonderful on-screen presence, and I can already see her chemistry with Cox playing out in my head. Here's hoping the show makes better use of Karen Page's potential as a character than the Daredevil movie did.

Daredevil, a 13-episode series, will premiere on Netflix in 2015.
