Dean Ray sings 'Mr. Brightside' on The X Factor Australia 2014 (VIDEO)

Dean Ray sang 'Mr. Brightside' on The X Factor Australia 2014 Live Show 4.

This was Dean's weakest performance so far, for me. But even then, it was still pretty damn good, relative to many of his competitors. The opening, with the slower tempo, also illustrated just how well Dean can sing when given the platform to do so. But once the tempo picked up, the band swallowed him whole, forcing him to shout his way through the song. It just didn't connect the way it should have, and that's a bit of a disappointment. No idea why this got a standing ovation, but I'm done trying to make sense of what the judges stand for and why. Either way, Dean is still one of the best in this competition, so hopefully, this doesn't set him back.

But what do you think of Dean Ray?
