It's So Hot in Australia That Dead Bats Are Falling From the Sky

While those of us in the Northeast and Midwest were suffering from below freezing temperatures this week, they were suffering an opposite problem in Australia where it was up to 122 degrees Fahrenheit.
In fact it was so hot that thousands of bats were dying and falling from the sky.
It's like a real life Twilight Zone episode!
At least 100,000 bats are estimated to have died in southern Queensland and the smell is reportedly so bad from the rotting bodies that it's even reached larger cities in the area.
"It's a horrible, cruel way to die," a conservation worker explained to the Courier Mail. "Anything over 43 degrees [Celsius, 109F] and they just fall. We're just picking up those that are just not coping and are humanely euthanising what we can."
"As they succumb, they just fall in heaps at the base of trees. You can have 250 or more — it's like dripping chocolate — all dying at the base of trees."
Even more are trapped in trees as they fall dead from the sky, rotting in the branches and bringing a massive scourge of maggots with them.
