In a recent interview, Jennifer Lawrence's American Hustle director David O. Russell has compared her work on The Hunger Games to being a slave.

Oh no he didn't!

"I personally think they should give her a bit of breathing room over there because they’re printing money," Russell explained of his award-winning cash cow. "But she’s a very alive person."

He continued, "I’ll tell you what it is about that girl — talk about 12 years of slavery, that’s what the franchise is. And I’m going to get in so much trouble for saying that."

Yup, yup, here it is. One major difference between Jennifer Lawrence and slaves, slaves don't get paid $10 million per picture. Also, slaves are actually enslaved.

Russell also went on to compare the dystopian young adult franchise to a "hamster wheel," saying J.Law took on other roles as a "vacation" from the series that made her a household name.

You know what she would probably do if she needed a vacation? Take a vacation! Instead, she's working hard for you and making people want to watch your movies David O. Russell!

Or should we say, David "Overreact Much?" Russell? What's wrong, you jelly?

UPDATE: Russell has since apologized, telling MailOnline, "Clearly, I used a stupid analogy in a poor attempt at humor. I realized it the minute I said it and I am truly sorry."
