David Letterman Offers Touching Farewell Tribute to Robin Williams (VIDEO)

Late Show With David Letterman was in reruns last week, meaning the show was off-the-air when the tragic news of the death of Robin Williams broke. However, the show is now back, and Letterman devoted a significant portion of Monday night’s show to remember his good friend.

In this ten-minute, tearjerker of a segment, Letterman recounts his friendship with Williams, starting from their days working together at The Comedy Store, to his countless appearances on both Late Show and The Tonight Show (during Letterman's occasional stints filling in for Johnny Carson). "Two things would happen because Robin was on the program: One, I didn’t have to do anything — all I had to do was sit here and watch the machine," Letterman remembered. "And two, people would watch. If they knew Robin was on the show, the viewership would go up because they wanted to see Robin. And believe me, that wasn't just true of television. I believe that was true of the kind of guy he was. People were drawn to him because of this electricity, this -- whatever it was that he radiated that propelled him and powered him."

It's a really moving segment, and well worth the ten-minutes. Once the theme from Cast Away started, I was pretty much a mess. God bless you, Robin. And well done, Dave.
