David Fincher to Direct Aaron Sorkin's Steve Jobs Biopic

Don't let the failure of the Ashton Kutcher vehicle Jobs convince you that there isn't still a market for movies about the late Apple co-founder and CEO Steve Jobs.

Director David Fincher is reportedly set to reunite with screenwriter Aaron Sorkin to develop Sorkin's long-awaited Jobs biopic, adapted from the critically-acclaimed, official Jobs biography by Walter Isaacson. The team famously worked together on 2010's The Social Network, for which Sorkin won a Best Adapted Screenplay Oscar. Fincher was also nominated for Best Director, a feat that could be repeated with the Jobs biopic, if his and Sorkin's previous collaboration is any indication.

Of course, this movie will likely be nothing like that previous collaboration, if Sorkin's vision makes it to the screen. Sorkin explained his idea for the movie in 2012, revealing that he envisaged the film as three single-take scenes, each one following the launch of a major Apple product. "This entire movie is going to be three scenes and three scenes only. That all take place in real time," he told The Daily Beast.

It's an ambitious undertaking, not only from an acting and screenwriting standpoint, but also from a directorial perspective. But I can hardly think of a director better suited to the job than David Fincher. I can't wait to see how the film turns out.
