Thoughts:
I thought I would like this since I like acoustic sets, but after listening I realized that this was just the same vocal track with a different backing track. What's this? Mixing and matching backing music to see what fits? This is no different from a song turned into a "dance version remix" to sell more units. I would have liked a real acoustic version with different vocals.
Amazingly, some of these tracks do work with scaled down music, with 'Goodbye To The Girl' ending up being better than the track on the album. However, I was very disappointed in 'Paper Heart' which I really like on the album -- they removed the distinctive guitar solos which was the best part of the song! Ugh.
To the fans who have been getting on my case over the last Secret Show podcast where we "reviewed" the album: I don't hate David Cook! I'm just expressing my opinions on the album and nothing personal. Cook's fans have been very nice to me over the years, and I appreciate the civil discourse on his new music. So now please excuse me while I sing 'Take Me As I Am' for the gazillionth time...
