David Cook Fans Conquering Cancer

A group of fans at David-Cook.org have been working with the American Cancer Society throughout the summer to distribute literature about early detection and cancer prevention and to raise money to fund essential research toward a cure.

Cook Fans Conquering Cancer and its subteams have raised more than $5,200 for the American Cancer Society in honor of David Cook in just one short month! Plus more than $1,300 raised by our Relay For Life teams! That's a total of over $6,500 in 30 days! And we're not stopping until we get to *at least* $10,000 -- all in honor of David!

We have teams and subteams in Tampa, Atlanta, Rhode Island, Chicago/Ft. Wayne, Indy, San Diego . . . so much support and enthusiasm. The craft shop ladies are also a part of our team!

Some Cook Fans Conquering Cancer subteams are participating in a fan sign challenge, where they can make a sign of support for the concert and try to earn bonus points that could win their team an additional $250 donation to the American Cancer Society (that will be matched for a total donation of $500). Other teams are asking for donations instead of getting David "stuff" as their gift to him when the tour hits their city/state (as is the case with NJ). And still, other teams are choosing very personal efforts and fundraising events.

We will also have Word Nerd teams in Relay For Life (http://main.acsevents.org/wordnerds) and Making Strides Against Breast Cancer (http://makingstrides.acsevents.org/wordnerds) so that David's fans throughout the world can participate in their local event(s) as part of the larger David Cook fans team.

Our very own SaucyAussie has also been tapped to produce an awareness video for the Kansas City American Cancer Society event. (This was the "exciting news" she got during one of the cellcasts that she couldn't talk about . . . and everyone was trying to drag it out of her. LOL. She can finally talk about it!)
