David Cook #10, David Archuleta #19 - Billboard 200

Okay, "Archu-charters", you're going to get some good news from Rickey.org finally. David Archuleta's total sales reached 316,000 this week -- but the good news is that he has sold 66,000 units on back-to-back weeks. If we can keep this consistency going for the next few months, we're set! Keep on promoting David Archuleta to your friends... and strangers. Word of mouth is the best. Just the other day, one of my clients was humming "Crush" -- and I thought, "Yes!"

Meanwhile, David Cook sold 112,000 this week, bringing his total to just under 400,000 for 2 weeks. Hopefully, after the expected second week drop, David Cook will get sales consistency like David Archuleta.

Stocking Stuffers!

Cook down but other Idols up in album sales (USA Today)

David Cook's album dropped 60% in sales, from 280,000 to 112,000, according to Nielsen SoundScan, falling from No. 2 to No. 10 on the Billboard album chart. Top-selling albums, as you know if you've been following along at home, normally drop 60-70% in their second weeks (David A.'s dropped 66% last week), but this is a pretty steep drop considering that it was Thanksgiving/Black Friday week, a span in which total album sales went up 29%. Still, the album should be near the top of many gift-givers' lists, and it should sell solidly through the season.

David A. should benefit in similar fashion, and already started, apparently. While he slides 11-19 on the chart, his sales dropped by just 242 albums, remaining at a rounded 66,000, for a three-week total of 316,000.
