I've been feeling guilty for a while that I didn't "line up" or "wait in the cold" for some of the events in New York during David Archuleta's CD launch (although I did visit the guys at Virgin Records to drop off the Thank You book before heading home to cellcast). So, I decided to go to the "First-Come, First-Served" Z100 All-Access Meet and Greet to finally meet David Archuleta.
Epic Phail. Unfortunately, "First-Come, First-Served" was a total sham. After getting into the Roseland Ballroom, the only way to go to the Meet and Greet for David Archuleta was to WIN a pass in one of the booths inside. God knows we tried hard to win one, even if we were so demoralized because everybody else seemed to be always getting these Meet and Greet passes. ("What? She won again? FJ!!!") At any rate, we failed. We could only win an autographed picture of Paris Hilton, which only doubled the fail. The Meet and Greet was scheduled for 12-1 PM, and at 1:15 we gave up. Epic Wait. Fortunately, not only are NYC Angels incredibly cute and the best David Archuleta fans ever, we are also SMART -- and with bodies that can withstand the chilling cold of New York City in December. We decided to wait for David when he left the building outside. We huddled to warm our bodies like "March of the Penguins". We played David Archuleta music. We chatted with security (VERY IMPORTANT). 30 minutes later -- HE ARRIVES! With Dachuleta! This is now the scene of the world-famous "I need to go to the bathroom, bye"-moment. (Video at the end of this post). Jeff Archuleta chatted with us for a bit saying they just arrived and they don't know what is happening, but he'll let us know. Sweeeeeet. Feeling so special now. So we saw David Archuleta before everyone else in the Meet and Greet -- and yes, we were going to see him again -- AFTER about an hour, LOL. Although we did see Nick Lachey... "What do you think of David Archuleta, Nick?" and Jesse McCartney... "You have to tour with David Archuleta, Jesse!" It was the beginnings of the epic win...
Epic Win. David Archuleta comes out and we give him the "NYC Angels Birthday Card" and "Christmas Card". Noelle gets a picture with her idol. We sing happy birthday to him. Jeff says bye to us. We say bye to David. I go to the limo's window and wave bye to David. David thinks: "Who is this guy with reindeer horns waving at my window?"
The NYC Angels are really the best David Archuleta fans ever. We will brave the cold for David, and we will have fun doing it. He brought joy into our lives and so we give it back.
