David Archuleta - Archey Report #3 - Houston, TX - 08/24/08
(Here's the Archey Report of archie angel fan from Houston, TX! Yay!)
I sit at home, at the end of on amazing weekend, trying to make sense of the whirlwind of emotions going through me; I ask myself what’s behind this great feeling of personal fulfillment. Looking back to Friday night, when the weekend started, at the airport I met the sweetest and tallest beautiful girl and instantly knew it was going to be a weekend of change. We had talked before, but nothing like we did on Saturday as we waited for the arrival of yet more beautiful people. We had never personally met, but all of us had in common our love for a 17-year-old young man that inspires each one of us in different ways. She said “I believe we are drawn to David because we are looking to fill something that is missing in our lives and it may be different for every one of us.” I nodded in agreement, but I didn’t really know what she meant because I was still trying to figure out why I was, for the first time in my life, a “fan” of someone I didn’t personally know and look up to, and even more puzzling, a teenager.
As the weekend progressed we got to share thoughts, feelings and ideas of many things, but mostly of David, his artistic talent, where he is as a person and some of the contributing factors of what makes him who he is. I started to have a breakthrough as to what my emptiness may be (not realizing I had an emptiness to begin with). On Sunday morning we went to Church and all of us experienced a very unique, soul touching, healing prayer for one of our beloved new friends. The power of this prayer, not only solidified our new friendship forever, but also humbled us in great magnitude. We also experience the stories of three people, a teenager in the entertainment industry (very appropriate since we were going to see David later that day) talking about how she stays true to her testament in an industry that is full of temptations; a friend that lives by the code of helping and servicing others, and a devoted husband being loyal to his faith and his beliefs. We could all relate even though for most of us this was an unknown Church and religion. We spent the rest of the day in great camaraderie enjoying each moment. Later that day, I met David…I met David! The peaceful, calm aura he has about him is 100% mind-boggling. You can see an old and wise soul in his 17-year-old body ASTONISHING! Of course, the concert was incredible, David, was a little under the weather, but you would never know it from his performance, he blew the top off the stadium. I met Jeff…I met Jeff! And I knew instantly where David gets his gentle and sweet personality from. I’m not sure what I said to them, I was so high on life the words coming out of me were not making any sense, I thank God for Richard who was able to say what we were all trying to say-“ we got to know each other because of you, we are friends coming together from all over because of you, we are finding what’s missing in our lives because of you.” David, you are here doing exactly what you were meant to do and we hope you are beginning to realize how much of a difference you are making through your talent and your personal values in the lives of people from all over the world.
At the end of the day, I realize what I was looking for and I will keep it private for the sake of not imposing my ideals on others, but know that am happier today than I was at the beginning of this awesome weekend.
