David Archuleta - American Idol 7 Top 12 - Everything You Need To Know

David Archuleta makes it to the American Idol 7 Top 12

David Archuleta is the early favorite to win American Idol 7. His fan following and media buzz is similar to Carrie Underwood's run during American Idol 4. Can David Archuleta go wire-to-wire and be the next American Idol?

David Archuleta, now 17 (birthday: December 28) started his career with a visit to the American Idol Season 1 finale when he was 11. In the lobby, he sang "And I Am Telling You I'm Not Going" in front of Kelly Clarkson after being inspired to be a soulful singer by Tamyra Gray who sang the same song during the show. Tamyra Gray is David Archuleta's favorite Idol of all time.

At age 12, David Archuleta won the Junior Division of Star Search hosted by Arsenio Hall. Since then, David Archuleta has made some TV appearances, recorded some songs, but he did not release a CD. He also went to Honduras for a fundraiser which unfortunately resulted in him losing his voice temporarily. (I think this is where his vocal paralysis story comes from which also is his most embarassing moment, doh -- 2 birds with one stone).

Quick Facts: David Archuleta was born in Miami, FL but now lives in Salt Lake City, Utah. He is Mormon. He siblings are: Claudia, Daniel, Jazzy, and Amber. He has two cats: Cloudy and Midnight. His eyes are hazel.
