David Alvarez - Final Performance on Billy Elliot

I read last week that David Alvarez was having his final performance on Billy Elliot on Broadway, so I decided to watch. He's so much taller now since I last saw him 11 months ago -- and his voice has changed. While watching, it seemed understandable that he was leaving the show because he's at that awkward time when his voice is cracking. He could not sing that well anymore. However, his dancing was still brilliant, and that is truly a loss to the show. Of all the three original Billys on Broadway, David was the best ballet dancer, and no one could beat his pirouettes. Wherever he is going now -- and I overheard that he was going to train again with ABT -- will be very blessed to have him.

Kinda looking forward to the future that awaits him, and hopefully he does not fail under the enormous expectation, specially with the Tony award he shared with Trent Kowalik and Kiril Kulish for playing Billy Elliot. David is some kind of child prodigy actually, since he's also into classical piano. He has held scholarships for both piano and ballet -- I really hope he does well in his life moving forward.

Good luck David! Maybe one day you will be America's favorite dancer on SYTYCD. Although I have a feeling that Trent Kowalik might go in that direction sooner.
