Daughtry Debuts at #2

Chris Daughty's new CD, Daughtry, lands on the #2 spot of the Billboard 200 selling 304,000 units.
For some perspective:
Kelly Clarkson's debut CD, Thankful, sold 297,000 copies in its first week (and then moved on to sell 3 million worldwide -- Breakaway would sell 10 million worldwide)
Ruben Studdard's Soulful sold 416,500 copies in its first week (then total 1.7 million). Ruben's second album, I Need An Angel, however sold only 437,114 total, and his third album, The Return, has sold only 132,075 since October.
Clay Aiken's Measure of a Man sold 613,000 copies in its first week (4 million total worldwide). His second album, Merry Christmas with Love sold 2 million total, and his third album A Thousand Different Ways opened with 211,000 copies in its first week and so far has sold 416,035 since October.
Fantasia Barrino's Free Yourself sold 240,000 copies in its first week (total 2.1 million)
Carrie Underwood's Some Hearts sold 315,000 copies in its first week (total 3.8 million)
The estimate for Daughtry two weeks ago was only 270,000 units. I think Taylor will move a lot of units for his debut CD, and I will be very surprised if Katharine McPhee reaches 200,000.
The bar for Season Five has been set. The Soul Patrol has two weeks left to buy multiple copies of Taylor's new CDImage: to cement their coveted bragging rights.
Meanwhile, if you haven't already, do yourself a favor and buy Daughtry. It's really good!
