Daniel Radcliffe continues to branch out in roles as real life figures.

Radcliffe, most recently seen as famed Beat poet Allen Ginsberg in Kill Your Darlings, has signed on to play Olympian Sebastian Coe in the upcoming sports drama Gold.

The film will reunite the actor with director James Watkins, who directed Radcliffe in The Woman In Black. The story will be adapted by Simon Beaufoy (Slumdog Millionaire) and Will Davies (How To Train Your Dragon) from the book The Perfect Distance.

The story will focus on the rivalry between runners Sebastian Coe and Steve Ovett, who began racing against one another in 1972, sparking one of the great rivalries in all of sports. But the movie looks to be more than just "Rush on foot," as the film will chart the trajectory of Coe and Ovett's rivalry as it carried them into the Moscow Olympic Games in 1980.
