Dancing With the Stars 19: SYTYCD Vet Joins Pros, But No More Maksim
Dancing With the Stars is approaching its 19th season in a few weeks. But before we get a reveal of the new cast, we have some new spots to fill in the pro ranks.
The 12 pros for Season 19 were revealed today on Good Morning America, and it features some good news and some bad news for fans of the reality dance competition.
The bad news: Maksim Chmerkovskiy has opted against returning to the show after all. But this downer is offset by the good news: Derek Hough, Mark Ballas, Cheryl Burke, Val Chmerkovskiy, Karina Smirnoff, and Tony Dovolani will all return alongside Peta Murgatroyd, Emma Slater, and Witney Carson.
In addition, three new pros have been hired for Dancing With the Stars 19. Former DWTS dance crew member Artem Chigvintsev joins the pros along with Burn the Floor veteran Keoikantse “Keo” Motsepe and So You Think You Can Dance Season 2 alum and Hit the Floor cast member Allison Holker.
Holker has long been considered one of the best talents to ever grace the SYTYCD stage, with her contemporary routines earning rave reviews. Of course, Holker isn't exactly new to DWTS. The choreographer, who is currently married to Season 4 contestant Stephen tWitch Boss, has already been nominated for an Emmy in the past for her work alongside previous Emmy winner Derek Hough. So this could very well prove to be the most exciting pro addition to Dancing With the Stars in several seasons.
We'll find out if Allison brings the goods when Dancing With the Stars 19 premieres Monday, Sept. 15 at 8:00 PM on ABC.
