Is it Abby's Annual Dance Concert or Kelly's Annual Dramatic Exit? Is this the end for Brooke, Kelly, and Paige? Here is our recap for season 3 episode 28 of Dance Moms: "Recital Rebellion."
This week is the annual dance concert production that Abby organizes for her dance studio every year. The recital will feature solos from all of the girls as well as a new group number. Most of the girls will be performing old solos with the exception of Kelly's kids. Abby gives Paige a new solo to learn and tells Brooke she'll be singing her "hit" song for the crowd. I think we're using the term "hit song" a little loosely here. I guess I missed when that was on the charts.
I hate Abby. When Kelly gives her an attitude, she outright says to her assistant that Kelly's kids can't be in the front of the group number. That's not right. She may claim to be a victim all the time but she's just as bad as the Dance Moms she criticizes.
The fireworks begin right away at pyramid because Asia and Kristie are back in town. When Maddie doesn't get reprimanded for her wardrobe malfunction, and Asia is higher on the pyramid than the girls who were actually present last week, the trouble begins.
Paige asks to do an old number instead to play it safe and it pisses of Abby. Rather than let her do what everyone else is doing, she pulls her solo all together and gives a second one to Maddie. Kelly flips out and does some of her signature cry-screeching and Abby kicks her out. Kelly grabs her kids and it's the last we see of them in the episode. They will not be attending the dance recital. Does this mean I won't be hearing Brooke's future Grammy award winning single? Will Brooke and Paige be back? Why does Kelly have to leave every time?
In addition to the recital, Brooke and Paige will not be attending a fancy photoshoot for Dance Track magazine. The girls are dressed in costumes and one girl will be selected as a winner and will get to grace the cover. Like we all don't know who that's going to be.
Wait a moment. Shocker! Kendall wins!
The dance recital goes pretty smoothly. Asia performs her entire number with her pants on backwards, Mackenzie panics that she'll forget her solo and will have to improvise, and Abby worries Jill's boobs will pop out when she performs. Oh, that's right. Jill gets to do a duet. The Tango to be precise. It's about as good as you would imagine. At least she's fun.
