'Dads' Picked Up for Full Season by FOX

Although it's been one of the most critically-savaged series of the new fall season, Dads has been given a full season order from FOX.

The series, starring Seth Green, Giovanni Ribisi, Peter Riegert and Martin Mull, follows two best friends/business partners whose fathers move in with them. FOX ordered an additional nine episodes, bringing the season total to 22 episodes.

The show has been the subject of controversy for what many consider its exploitative approach, featuring racial and sexist stereotypes. However, producers have promised a change in tone. One of the producers is Seth MacFarlane, whose animated comedy Family Guy has gotten FOX in similarly hot water over similar stereotypes.

Yet the series still has its viewers, apparently. FOX Entertainment Chairman Kevin Reilly stated that the show's appeal to young adult viewers was behind the decision to grant Dads a full season, calling the series "an asset we can grow."

Dads airs Tuesdays on FOX.
