From Sex and the City to Fava beans and a nice chianti!

E! Online reports that Cynthia Nixon, former star of the late HBO comedy series Sex and the City, will be joining season two of NBC's Hannibal.

Nixon will take on the role of Jack Crawford's (Laurence Fishburne) new boss Kade Prurnell, "an employee of the Office of the Inspector General in FBI Oversight. She'll come in to investigate all of the craziness that went down in the first season and Jack's role in said craziness."

E! Online also spoke recently with series creator Bryan Fuller about season two of the dark drama. "It's about Will and Hannibal finding a new dynamic between them and those characters exploring the loss of the friendship," he teased. "If the first season was the bromance, the second season is the nasty breakup!" However, star Hugh Dancy said viewers should still expect to see the two men interact over the course of the new season. "There's a connection of some sort and Hannibal is certainly not stopping being interested in Will," Dancy revealed. "I think he's still just as interested as he was and clearly Will now has a powerful interest in Hannibal, albeit of a different type."

Hannibal will return at midseason on NBC.
