Cycling - Men's Sprint - London 2012 Olympics - Results

Team GB would try to win yet another gold in the velodrome today, as their top rider squared off against the top rider from France for gold in the Men's Sprint final at the London 2012 Olympics.

Here are your medal results:

If you've never watched a cycling sprint before, the race probably looks a bit odd.  Rather than the riders going all out from start to finish, like you might expect, the riders will play a game of cat and mouse up until the last lap, often trying to get the other rider to go first, so they can benefit from the slip stream effect and try and sling shot around their opponent at the line.

Generally the riders will jockey for position up until the final lap, where they will finally turn on the jets and race for the finish line.

In the first match of the men's final, the French rider attempted to get the jump on the Brit, but he was unsuccessful and Jason Kenny would win the first race in this best of three contest.

In the second match, it was do or die for Gregory Bauge.   Kenny took it out first and Bauge would have to try and catch him.  Bauge made a good attempt, but the match and the gold medal would go to Kenny.  Another thrilling victory for the home team at the velodrome!

Results:

Gold: Jason Kenny - Great Britain

Silver: Gregory Bauge - France

Bronze: Shane Perkins - Australia

Congratulations to all the medal winners!
