Cyborg Has Been Cast for 'Batman vs. Superman'

Apparently, every good superhero movie these days needs...well, more superheroes. It worked for The Avengers and the individual Marvel movies in which those characters star, and it's likely to work for Guardians of the Galaxy. So why not try it out for Batman vs. Superman?

Yes, in addition to Henry Cavill as Superman, Ben Affleck as Batman, and Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, the upcoming Man of Steel sequel will be adding another well-known hero to its lineup: Victor Stone a.k.a. Cyborg.

Warner Bros. and DC have cast theater actor Ray Fisher in the role of Cyborg, a member of the Justice League. It's not intended to be a major role in the film, but it will be a role intended to become more significant in future films related to the DC Universe, in particular the Justice League universe that Warner Bros. is creating.

In a bonus feature on the Man of Steel DVD release, Cavill makes note of the potential in Cyborg as a character, as well as the fictional research facility S.T.A.R. Labs to which he's connected.

“I think he would create an incredible bridge between superheroes and humanity,” said Cavill.

S.T.A.R. Labs is also home to Justice League characters Professor Hamilton (played by Richard Schiff in Man of Steel) and the superhero Rampage, although we have no idea if they're going to factor into Batman vs. Superman.

The untitled Batman vs. Superman film (which may or may not actually pit the heroes against one another, making this internet codename somewhat sillier than it already is, and leave figurative egg all over my face) opens May 6, 2016.
