CW to Put Uncensored 'Reign' Episode Online

The CW’s Reign is too hot for TV this week. No, seriously.

The sexually explicit nature of tonight's episode (titled "The Consummation," so you know the show means business) has The CW taking an interesting new approach toward the release of edgier TV programs. For the first time in network TV history, The CW will offer two versions of this week’s episode, an on-air cut that meets standards for network broadcast, and an uncensored version that will stream exclusively online.

But what are the differences between the two cuts? It's all in how two graphic sex scenes are edited, with the uncensored cut being the "too hot for TV" version. It's controversial, at least from the standpoint of the relatively PG-13 CW Network, but this is hardly the first time Reign has pushed the envelope, where sex is concerned. The show's pilot featured a female masturbation scene that was significantly toned down when the series actually premiered. And (semi-spoiler) a future episode includes a threesome. So yeah, it looks like The CW might have to do this dual-release more often than just this once.
