The CW is continuing to strengthen its pilot lineup for the 2014-2015 TV season.

The network has picked up the supernatural drama The Messengers, from CBS Television Studios and Thunder Road. The series centers on "a group of strangers who die from an energy pulse — only to awaken and learn that they must save the world from the apocalypse."

The show will be executive produced by Basil Iwanyk, Kent Kubena, Ava Jamshidi, and series writer Eoghan O’Donnell.

The Messengers joins recent pilot orders for Identity and Jane the Virgin, in addition to pick ups for iZombie and Supernatural: Tribes, a spin-off of the hit series Supernatural. Of the pilots announced so far, I think The Messengers is my most anticipated. Here's hoping the show can deliver on the promise of its premise.
